The effect of the artificial mixture of quartz-bentonite and quartz-kaolin
was studied in the rat lung by bronchoalveolar lavage technique. Cell count,
lactate dehydrogenase, protein and phospholipid were determined. Bentonite
and kaolin significantly inhibited in mixture the inflammatory effect of
quartz. This fact may play an important role in the understanding of pathomechanism
of these artificial mixtures.
