Workplace Microclimatic and Indoor Radon Concentration Values

Abstract:
The paper deals with the results of 2200 measurements of microclimatic parameters (temperature, relative humidity, air velocity) and 40 measurements of indoor radon concentrations performed within the working area of the reactor RA of the VINČA Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Belgrade, during a one-year period (1996–1997). The minimum and maximum values of the effective temperature (ET), relative humidity and air velocity were 11.6  and 21.9°C, 30% and 75%, 0.04 and 0.17 m/s, respectively. The measured annual average indoor radon gas concentrations at eight sites within the reactor working area were in the range of 84 to 334 Bq/m3. The estimated annual effective dose record of individual workers absorbed from exposure to radon progeny at work ranged from 0.40 up to 1.64 mSv with a mean value of 0.97 mSv. The annual collective dose of the radon-exposed 71 workers amounted up to 0.069 manSv.
